Amit Khatri Athlete Early Life
Amit Khatri was born on 25 December 2003 in the Rohtak district of Haryana. His father Suresh Khatri is a veteran BSF constable. Suresh Khatri would come home on vacation and instead of relaxing he would continue his daily routine of the BSF regiment. He would watch his son just laze around doing nothing.
Amit’s path to success was filled with obstacles. He was not physically strong and his Stamina was low. Many elite coaches rejected him. International race walker Chandan Singh took Khatri under his wing in 2018, and over time, he demonstrated growth before producing swift results.
Amit Khatri Athlete Professional Life
After Amit started training under Chandan Singh, he started to improve his physical strength and stamina. He had low hemoglobin hence it was difficult for him to continue after some time. He started training in Ooty to improve his stamina.
He won the gold medal at the Indian U-18 Championship in 2021 by setting the time of 42:15.91. He then created history by becoming the first Indian to win a medal at the World Athletics U20 Championships in Nairobi. He won the silver medal by setting a time of 42:17.94 finishing only seven seconds behind the winner.
This is no small feat by young Amit as he is now certainly one of India’s top athletes. He will represent India in the 10,000-meter race walk at the prestigious Commonwealth Games later this year.
