“A person from Mumbai threatened us but we still toured to India.” – Shahid Afridi’s statements stirs up controversy!

Pakistan’s 2009 ICC T20 World cup winning captain Shahid Afridi is all over the headlines following his long interview in the sidelines of the Legends League Cricket 2023 final where he led Asia Lions to win the edition against World Giants in the final.

One of the main highlighters of his comments were about the Indian government not sanctioning team India to allow their players to travel to Pakistan for the next edition of Asia Cup. When India said they want the Asia Cup to take place somewhere else the PCB said that they will also not travel to India for this year’s ICC Cricket World cup.

As the dilemma continues, one thing is certain that the developments will get spicier than ever. Amid all the revelations that Afridi made about his friendship with Indian players and his willingness to appeal to Prime Minister Narendra Modi about the possible India and Pakistan Bilateral match, Afridi said that the Pak team had received a threat from someone in Mumbai but they still toured to India.

Shahid tried to allege team India with the same security issues and said – “Before this, an Indian from Mumbai, won’t take his name, had threatened Pakistan that they won’t be allowed in India. But we kept all aside and our government had taken it up as a responsibility and the Pakistan team did go to India. So threats should not ruin our relationship. Threats will remain.”

The Former All-rounder ensured that if India tours to Pakistan for Major tournaments and Bilateral series, then PCB will make sure there are no security threats and they will host India with utmost respect and love.

“Aap Indian team ko bheje toh sahi, humlog sar aankhon par rakhenge (You just send the Indian team to Pakistan and we will welcome them with great pleasure).”
