The success of IPL teams is not solely dependent on the 11 players who play on the field; the entire staff and management also bear responsibility. Among the management, the coach plays a particularly crucial role.

The coach leads the team behind the scenes, even if they are not visible on the field. In this article, we will unveil the most  successful coaches in the history of IPL.

1. Stephen Fleming

Let’s start with the renowned captain of New Zealand, Stephen Fleming. He played matches for CSK in the initial season of IPL and then later joined CSK as a coach.

Fleming has been the coach of CSK since the beginning of the IPL, making him the longest-serving coach in the history of the IPL. Under his guardianship, CSK has reached the playoffs in all the IPL seasons except the 2020 and 2022 seasons. He is also instrumental in helping CSK win 4 IPL titles.

2. Mahela Jayawardene

Our Sri Lankan guest, Mahela Jayawardene, is second on the most successful IPL coaches list. Jayawardene has captained his national team for a long time and has contributed a lot to achieving milestones for the national team.

He has played many matches in IPL and has gained a lot of experience playing for many franchises. Being captained his national team for a significant time and having experience in many IPL matches, he took charge of the team as the coach of Mumbai Indians in 2017. 3. Ricky Ponting

After his major success, Punjab Kings included him in their team as a coach and helped them to perform well in IPLs. Moody was the coach of Sunrisers Hyderabad from 2013 to 2019. Moody played a crucial role in leading Sunrisers Hyderabad to the playoffs 5 times and won the IPL title in 2016.

5. Trevor Bayliss

Trevor Bayliss comes in fifth place in this article. Bayliss has played many domestic matches in Australia; However, he did not get a chance to play international games, but he is a very successful coach. He has coached the Sri Lanka team for 4 years and England from 2015 to 2019. With their successful career, Kolkata Knight Riders included him as a coach in 2012.
