After registering the T20 series whitewash, India have been brought to ground as they have been thrashed 3-0 in the three-match ODI series, on Tuesday.
Post the first T20 defeat, team India were expected to fight back, however, an improved batting performance coupled with brilliant death bowling left India bereft of answers.
India might have lost the series, however, prolific performances from Shreyas Iyer and KL Rahul, perhaps have put an end to the quessions surrounding number four and number five position. 
Karnataka batsman, KL Rahul has been in the form of his life, piling a plethora of runs in the series. The 28-year old batsman scored heavily in the T20 series and struck a fine century in the third ODI. Having lost two early wickets including the wicket of Virat Kohli, KL Rahul showed composure, powering India to a formidable total. He struck 112 runs in 113 balls, including nine fours and a six.
Despite averaging 56 in the T20 series and 102 in the three-match ODI series, KL Rahul has not been considered in India’s squad for the two-match test series against New Zealand, scheduled to start from 21st February.
His omission surprised a lot of experts considering the runs he has piled for the last 6-7 months. Former Indian skipper, Zaheer Khan also expressed displeasure over his omission in the squad.
“There are just two Test matches on the tour and it is a year when the side will be playing predominantly T20s, there are just five Test matches and the way he is going about things it might happen. That’s a point I have been trying to make, Rahul is in a phase where all these things are happening around him so I am sure he is not bothered,” Zaheer told Cricbuzz Live.
“He knows that when I get an opportunity I know how to approach it and I am just gonna focus on things I can control. I know that he would have loved to be there to play the Test matches, he is in such a form that he just wants to be out there and keep scoring runs. And that’s something that has definitely changed with him and it’s the loss of the team and not his loss,” he added.
