Women's IPL

The Sawai Mansingh Stadium, located in Jaipur, has been chosen as the stadium of choice to host the 2020 Women’s IPL tournament. The city will hold the tournament, just like last year. The expanded Women’s T20 IPL tournament sees the entry of a fresh new fourth team. The competition, which is scheduled to be held in May, will see additional matches with a fourth side being introduced in the league, which will increase the number of league matches from three last year to six this year, and will end with a final in the same city.

The Women’s IPL started in 2018 as a match between Harmanpreet Kaur’s team Supernovas and Smriti Mandhana’s team Trailblazers. Propelled by support from the Board of Control for Cricket in India, primarily the chief selector Sourav Ganguly, the competition grew by leaps and bounds in just two years, starting with the introduction of the third team in 2019, IPL Velocity, led by veteran Indian cricketer Mithali Raj. The third edition of the tournament will see the introduction of a fourth team, the players of which will be announced in due course.

The fixtures and teams, including foreign players, are to be announced in due course.
The names of the teams and its players, both domestic and international, are set to be announced shortly.

The 13th edition of the men’s IPL starts from March 29. The first match of the tournament will see defending champions Mumbai Indians take on the Chennai Super Kings, captained by MS Dhoni, at the Wankhede Stadium. The men’s IPL is also going to be Dhoni’s much-awaited return into the cricket field.
