Will Fawad Alam not play for Pakistan again? Read Azhar Ali’s message here

A few days ago, out of favor Pakistan batsman, Fawad Alam was recalled in the Pakistan team after a long hiatus of ten years. Fawad is a stalwart in Pakistan domestic cricket but has been consistently ignored by the national selectors since his international debut in the infamous 2009 series against Sri Lanka at home which came under the scanner for the terrorist attack and while he scored a century in that series, Fawad was never picked in the Pakistan team again

Fawad was recalled for historic Pakistan versus Sri Lanka home series and also played the first Test but once again he has been kept out of the playing 11 for the second test. Pakistan captain Azhar Ali has said that the team will play Fawad only when they feel that they require him.

“Fawad has been a consistent performer for a long time and he is an example for any player who plays cricket to not give up, he has come back in the team after a long time,” Azhar was quoted as saying by PakPassion. “He is capable and we will utilize him wherever we feel we need him. At the moment, we are continuing with our team but Fawad is in our plans, that’s why he is in the squad.”

Fawad has been in exceptional form in the ongoing Qaid A Azam series where he has scored 781 in 9 matches for Sindh which is his domestic cricket team and that also includes four centuries and two half-centuries at an average of 70 plus.

Apart from commenting on Fawad, the captain also spoke about his own form and said that he will step aside from his captaincy if he is not able to perform in the second test as well. In the first Test against Sri Lanka, he could manage to score only 36 runs.

“I am going through a bad patch but I am not out of form. I am middling the ball well. It is a matter of one good inning and I know I can get back into form,” Azhar told reporters. “But yes if I feel things are not working out for me and I am not contributing to the team, I would prefer to step aside from myself,” he added.
