Manchester City winger Antoine Semenyo is expected to be out for about eight weeks with a knee injury, the club said on 19 October 2026. Striker Erling Haaland is a doubt for Tuesday's Champions League home game against AEK Athens, which is scheduled for 20 October.

Manager Enzo Maresca confirmed that Semenyo could be sidelined for that length of time. The player hurt his knee in City's 3-2 Premier League win over Ipswich on Saturday 17 October, having come on as a substitute in the 76th minute.

Maresca was relatively encouraged by the scan results. "After the scan we feel much better because it's not as bad as we expected," he said. Semenyo has scored two goals this season, both of them against Sunderland last month.

Haaland's problem is described differently by various sources. One describes it as a foot injury and says he hobbled off at full time, while another refers to a "knock" and says he is in the mix to face AEK Athens. He looked in pain after a heavy challenge with Ipswich's Jack Clarke in stoppage time, then went straight down the tunnel.

On Haaland's chances, Maresca said, "He can be available." After the Ipswich game, the manager had also said, "Erling also said he was OK." The absence of Semenyo leaves Maresca short of alternatives to the Norwegian striker.

The wide options still open to Maresca are Iliman Ndiaye, Jérémy Doku, Phil Foden, Rayan Cherki and Allan. Mateo Kovacic, Matheus Nunes and Nico O'Reilly also picked up problems against Ipswich. Maresca said Kovacic and Nunes were fine, and that O'Reilly's back problem, dating from the Coventry game, is the same as before.

Haaland scored twice against Ipswich, taking his tally for the season to 12. He has scored four goals this week. He is now the fastest player in Premier League history to reach 100 non‑penalty goals, though VAR denied him a hat‑trick late on.

The victory was City's seventh straight in the Premier League and put them six points clear at the top. It also notes Maresca is the first manager to win his first seven league games at a new club. City lost to Paris Saint-Germain last Wednesday and want to revive their European campaign. It is expected Maresca will make changes against AEK, and Haaland's availability will be decided after City's training session.
