Something strange and shocking happened in the ongoing T20 World Cup as no Asian teams qualified for the final and the only team from the subcontinent who qualified from the semifinal was Pakistan who lost the recently concluded encounter against Australia by five wickets due to the individual brilliance of Mathew Wade, David Warner, and Marcus Stonis.

Why did I mention Strange in the beginning it is based on the fact that the ongoing marquee event which is played in Asian conditions where no teams from Asia could do justice in their own backyard including the likes of India, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Afghanistan barring Pakistan. The foreign teams like Australia, New Zealand, England have done pretty well in the condition where they don’t play much cricket and Black Caps and Kangaroos will be playing final for the first time in T20 World Cup which is played in Asian condition.

But the major change in the development of these Western cricket-playing nations is based on their player’s experience of playing in different leagues like IPL and PSL, LPL which is played in Asian conditions. Kane Williamson who is leading the Black Caps side has experience of captaining Sun Risers Hyderabad. David Warner who also plays in IPL regularly for SRH has been in fine form in the ongoing edition of T20 World Cup 2021.

The next world cup which is likely to be held in Australia might see teams like India, West Indies bouncing back in style especially after a dismal outing in the ongoing T20 World Cup 2021. With Rohit Sharma appointed as the new skipper of India in T20 International format and KL Rahul appointed as his deputy, Men in Blue under the guidance of Rahul Dravid is expected to do wonders in the next marquee event. Considering India’s good record in Australia, they will be one of the favorites to win the title.
