Until 2016, Royal Challengers Bangalore was regarded as the team which made the fans disappoint in the finals. However, post that, the team has failed miserably for three straight seasons. RCB have remained at the bottom half of the table since 2016.
For the last three years, fans have been rooting for the side and hoped that the franchise would step up to the plate only to suffer disappointment in the end. However, RCB stalwart, AB de Villiers believes that this year the side has a great balance to the side and boasts of great back-up options in every department.
“It’s a tricky one because we say that every season, ‘Oh, this year’s our team’. I promise it’s different, that’s all I’ll say. I won’t say we’ve got the best team, here we go. There’s a different, fresh feel to the team that I can’t explain. There’s backups everywhere and options in every department.”
The South African cricketer also hailed Virat Kohli for instilling work ethics and setting the right examples for the side.
“We’ve worked so hard, we have a really good work ethic. A lot of credit has to go to Virat for that. It’s easy to follow when you have a captain leading from the front. I’m just looking forward to see the final product of the hard work we’re putting in.”
AB de Villiers has been one of the most prolific run-scorers for RCB in IPL. As far as his overall record in IPL is concerned, the South African cricketer has played 154 matches, scoring 4395 runs at an average of 39.95 and a strike rate of 151.24.
The Indian Premier League is scheduled to start from 19th September 2020. RCB will begin their campaign on 21st September 2020 against Sunrisers Hyderabad in Dubai.
