Watch: Once, There was a Time When Gambhir Gave Away His Man-Of-The-Match Award To Virat Kohli

After the Lucknow Super Giants’ IPL 2023 match against Royal Challengers Bangalore on Monday at the Ekana Cricket Stadium, Virat Kohli and Gautam Gambhir got into a heated argument. To revenge their loss to the KL Rahul-led team in the opening leg of the current competition, RCB bowled LSG out for 108 while defending a score of 126/9. After this, a verbal exchange between LSG coach Gambhir and RCB player Kohli soured Monday night’s game.

The rivalry between Gambhir and Kohli is nothing new. They have previously faced off against one another. The two have hardly been able to resist going up against one other anytime their teams have faced off, whether it be in the 2013 IPL or the 2016 season.

Although, the two’s relationship was not as bad at the beginning. The two used to have a friendly relationship when Virat Kohli first joined the senior India squad and Gambhir was a professional.

Given how well they got along, Gambhir even gave his Man-of-the-Match award to Kohli who had just made his first century in international game and the two had led India to a 7-wicket victory against Sri Lanka in an ODI at the Eden Gardens.

India lost two wickets at the score of 23 while chasing 316 in the fourth one-day international of the five-match series with Sri Lanka. Following this, Kohli and Gambhir put together a 224-run partnership for the third wicket to put India in control. Gambhir persisted and struck 150 unanswered to lead India to victory after Kohli was knocked out for 107.
