Who would have thought that when Dhoni would retire from International cricket in 2020 it would not be a daunting task to find his replacement in form of Ravindra Jadeja as someone who played under him not only in national colors but also in Chennai-based franchise who has retained swashbuckling all-rounder considering his recent form with both bat and ball.
But Jadeja off late has turned into a match-winner with his all-around ability to change the crux of the game in quick succession makes him stand apart from the rest of his counterparts.
Jadeja’s rise in international cricket can be clearly stated based on his recent ICC Test all-rounder rankings where he climbed to 2nd position. Kyle Jamieson who recently bowled superb spells against Men in Blue at Green Park brought him in under 10 rankings of an all-rounder.
Taking about Test batting rankings in reference to India, Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli two stalwarts of the game are standing in the top 10 whereas Ashwin is currently placed at 2nd position in the points table in bowling ranking.
Jadeja scored a half-century in the first innings of the first Test against New Zealand, while his five wickets in the match also helped him jump to 19th in the bowling chart. Ashwin is the third-ranked allrounder and 79th among batters.
Ravindra Jadeja post-2020 has been consistent with the bat where he slowly approaches his innings but gradually change his gears considering the situation especially while he is chasing as he paces his innings brilliantly and what’s amazing is to witness his subtle variations with the ball where he can give tough time to any quality batter on his day.
