The Advancement of Women’s Cricket: A Journey of Evolution

There was a time when children were handed toys in accordance with their gender during childhood. For instance, if a girl is born into a family, she is bestowed with toys like dolls, bangles and the like. Whereas a born is given the toys in form of bats, balls and the like. Women Premier League (WPL), the replica of the most prominent Indian Premier League has revolutionized women’s cricket in the world, providing them with a platform just like that of men, also forking out help. After the launch of the Women’s Premier League, the league has substantially gained popularity across the cricketing nations.

Months back the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has batted to revolutionize women’s cricket in India as it came with a decision to shell out equal salary to women cricketers as that of men cricketers. This decision of the BCCI was appreciated countrywide.  Even the former Indian skipper for the women’s team and legendary batter Mithali Raj publicly praised the decision.

The Women’s Premier League is the world’s first any such league for women that will allow them to perform and showcase their skills. In the inaugural season of the WPL, Mumbai Indians have marked their names on the trophy. The star bowler of the Mumbai Indians Saba Karim has come out as a star performer for the champions team.

The WPL will have a significant role in helping elevate women’s cricket as well as drawing the attention of fans from all around the world.
