Tendai Chatara Biography

Tendai Larry Chatara, who is a player for the Zimbabwe national cricket team, was born on 28 February of the year 1991. Since making his first-class debut for the Mountaineers in the year 2009, Chatara, a tall, wiry fast bowler with respectable speed and the ability to shift the ball away from the right-hander, has quickly gained notoriety. Despite his poor academic performance in school, Chatara is one of the most super-talented speed prospects in his nation.

Chatara has built-in athleticism. Larry Chatara competed in the 200 and 400 meters for his native Manikaland before getting picked up for cricket.

Domestic Career

In addition to one game for Zimbabwe’s U-19 team, Larry Chatara played in one game for the senior cricket team. Tendai Larry Chatara also represented them in the year 2009 in the ICC Intercontinental Cup while playing for the Zimbabwe XI.

Larry Chatara was very prominent on the domestic circuit, particularly during his first-class career. In the year 2009, Tendai Larry Chatara played for the Mountaineers against Mid-West Rhinos in his first-class debut. With a stellar economy rate of 3.57 and just 25 runs allowed from 7 overs in the first inning, Tendai Larry made an immediate impression. He gained notoriety quickly, taking 71 wickets in just 20 games. Tendai excelled in other formats as well, including Twenty 20 and List A cricket.

Against the Mashonaland Eagles, Chatara made his List A debut for the Mountaineers. Tendai took his first List A wicket in the game when he got Cephas Zhuwao out.

In the year 2010, Chatara made his Twenty 20 debut for the Mountaineers against the Mid West Rhinos, taking his first Twenty20 wicket when he outwitted Zimbabwe’s wicketkeeper-batsman, Brendan Taylor, for one wicket.

Tendai Larry Chatara was chosen to represent the Mountaineers in the 2020–21 Logan Cup in the month of December of the year 2020.

International Career

The Zimbabwean selectors chose Chatara because of his outstanding local performances for the senior cricket team’s Twenty 20 International (T20I) series against India, which is led by Suresh Raina. When Yusuf Pathan was dismissed during the second T20I, he made his senior international debut and claimed his first wicket against Yusuf Pathan.

Chatara competed for his country in the 2010 ICC Under-19 Cricket World Cup, and the following year, in 2011, he was chosen to play for Zimbabwe in a tri-nation series against the A cricket teams of Australia and South Africa.

Chatara was selected in the month of January of the year 2015 to play for Zimbabwe in the 15-man team for the 2015 Cricket World Cup.

Chatara was selected in the month of February of the year 2016 for Zimbabwe’s 15-man T20 World Cup team.

Before the 2018 Zimbabwe Tri-Nation Series, Chatara was selected for a Board XI team in month of June of the year 2018 for practice matches.

For the Zimbabwe A team’s home series against South Africa in the month of May of the year 2021, Chatara was selected as the captain.

Chatara was included in Zimbabwe’s 20-man Test team in the month of July of the year 2021 for their lone match against Bangladesh. Chatara had been absent from the Test squad for three years, having last faced the same team in a Test in the month of November of the year 2018.
