One of the finest defenders in Pro Kabaddi League, Surender Nada will not feature in the upcoming Pro Kabaddi League owing to a hand injury he sustained last season during Harayana Steelers opening encounter with Puneri Paltan, which led to him missing the rest of the last season.

While the Indian defender was confident that he would be fit until the start of the tournament, hours prior to the start of the tournament, it has been understood that the Patna Pirates defender is set to miss Pro Kabaddi Season 7 as he hasn’t recovered from the injury.

Surendra has been deemed unfit by an expert team of doctors and he is still to recover fully from his injury that he sustained last season. We took multiple opinions, but unfortunately all the experts have advised him to stay off the mat,” the source said.

The news has hit hard to the Pirates who bought the defender for as many as 77 lakhs in the auctions and was their lead defender for the season.

Surender Nada is a left-corner specialist defender, with one of the most feared ankle holds in the game. He was the joint highest tackle point scorer in the inaugural season of VIVO Pro Kabaddi and instrumental in U Mumba’s title campaign in Season 2. A patient defender who can strike when least expected, Nada has even been a part of the 2016 Kabaddi World Cup winning Indian team.
