Sunil Gavaskar Picks 3 Legends From His Era Who He Thinks Would Have Excelled In IPL

The legendary Indian batter Sunil Gavaskar named three historical figures from his generation who he thinks would have excelled in the Indian Premier League (IPL). Gavaskar was recently asked to choose players from his side who are fit for the IPL, and he chose the World Cup-winning captain Kapil Dev as the all-rounder. He selected Sandeep Patil to bat and BS Chandrashekhar to bowl, believing that Chandrashekhar’s action would have aided him in white-ball cricket.

During a Q&A session on Star Sports, Gavaskar stated, “Look, a batsman I would like to see would be Sandeep Patil, there is only one all-rounder I would choose — Kapil Dev, for the bowler, I would like to see BS Chandrashekhar play in the T20 format because his bowling action was not only suited for test cricket but was also easy for him in one day cricket and T20 cricket.”

Gavaskar also selected the IPL team that, if given the chance, he would like to join. The legend stated that, although Mumbai Indians were his first option, he would want to play for MS Dhoni as captain.

Mumbai Indians, who else? If not, I’d like to join Chennai Super Kings as a player. Chennai Super Kings for two reasons. First, the proprietors of Chennai are devoted to cricket and have made significant contributions to the game. Srinivasan sir has contributed much to cricket. And the second important factor is to observe MS Dhoni leading the squad while seated in the captain’s chair in the locker room. Is he just as cool and collected off the pitch as he is on it? Does he lose his calm when a catch is dropped or a fielder is not supported? That is what I want to know, the illustrious batter said.
