From freedom fighters to entrepreneurs, politicians and sports stars, Bollywood has delivered some great biopics over the last couple of years, especially on cricket. The most famous of all was MS Dhoni The Untold Story – A biopic on the three-time ICC trophy winning captain, played by Sushant Singh Rajput.  Azhar, based on the life of Mohammad Azharuddin, was another cricket biopic that was well-received among fans of the game.

Not to forget – Sachin A Billion Dreams – a movie on the God of Cricket Sachin Tendulkar had also made waves in Indian cinema. World Cup-winning Captain Kapil Dev’s biopic ’83’ is set to be released next year, in which Ranveer Singh will play the batsman’s role. Cricket and Bollywood in India are largely intertwined.

Fans also want a biopic to be made on Sourav Ganguly – former captain and now the president of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI). At a talk show recently, a candid Ganguly said that if a biopic is made on him, he would want Hrithik Roshan to be the actor.

My favorite actor is Hrithik Roshan. He is most dear to me. I want him to act in my role,” Ganguly was quoted as saying.

Meanwhile, encouraged by the response from fans for India vs Bangladesh pink-ball game in Kolkata, Sourav has suggested the idea of playing one D/N Test in every series.

I am pretty upbeat about it,” Ganguly told ‘The Week’ magazine. “I feel this is the way forward. Not every Test, but at least one Test in a series.

He also said that he will try and ensure that every venue gets a crowd for the pink-ball Test.

I will share my experiences with the board and we will try and implement it in other places. After this, everyone is ready. Nobody wants to play Test cricket in front of 5,000 people,” added the former India captain.
