Simon Luc Hildebert Mignolet is a Belgian professional Footballer who plays as a Goalkeeper for the Belgian Club Brugge and the Belgian national team

EARLY LIFE

Simon was born on 6^th March 1988 in Sint-Truiden, Belgium. He started his Football career from the youth system of the local Belgian second division Football team Sint-Truiden. His impressive performance earned him a place in the first team at the age of 18 in 2006.

PERSONAL LIFE

Simon married his long-time girlfriend jasmine Claes on 20^th June 2015 in his hometown.

CLUB CAREER

After being promoted on the senior side of the club he helped the club to avoid relegation for which he was named as the Belgian Goalkeeper of the Year. After serving the club for four years he signed the club Sunderland on a five-year deal worth for two million dollars.

He made his debut for the club against Birmingham City in August 2010. He was named the man of the match in his debut game. His first clean sheet for Sunderland came against Manchester City.

He remained the first-choice goalkeeper for the club after regular goalkeeper suffered a knee injury in February in 2011. Before moving to Liverpool he earned a large number of clean sheets and won several man of the match performances.

He signed the club Liverpool in June 2013 on a five-year contract for a reported fee of 9 million dollars. He made his debut against Stoke City in August 2013.

After three successful seasons, he signed a fresh five-year contract with the club In January 2016. In November 2017 he captained the Club for the first time in a 4-1 win against West Ham.

Before moving into the Belgian club Brugge assisted the club to conquer the UEFA Champions League of 2018-19 season.

On 4 August 2019, he signed a five –year contract with the Belgian club for a reported fee of 6.4 million euros.

INTERNATIONAL CAREER

Mignolet has represented his Belgian National team at almost every youth level. He made senior debut against Austria in March 2011 at the 2012 UEFA Euro qualifiers.

He also represented his county in 2014 and the 2018 FIFA World Cup and 2016 EURO. At the 2018 FIFA World Cup, his country finishes third.
