ICC T20 World Cup, Shivam Dube, Hardik Pandya, T20 World Cup 2024

Shivam Dube and Hardik Pandya, are the all-rounder that Indian team selectors need to consider for the upcoming ICC T20 World Cup 2024. But the question is who they should select or both should be considered? The answer to this question isn’t that simple as Hardik Pandya is a well-established T20 player, who is known for his explosive batting and wicket-taking ability with the ball. While Shivam Dube’s form with the bat in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 is outstanding.

Indian team squad for the ICC T20 World Cup 2024 is the most debated topic among experts and fans. Possibly, BCCI will announce the squad in the next 4-5 days and both Pandya and Dube will get a spot in the squad because both are fighting for different positions. If Hardik Pandya gets selected then he will be playing the role of finisher in the team, while Shivam Dube comes in the middle at 4 or 5 when spinners are controlling the game. He is known to hit the boundaries and accelerate the game when conditions are slow.

In the IPL 2024, Shivam Dube has been consistent with the bat. So far he has amassed 311 runs in 8 matches for Chennai Super Kings (CSK). He averages above 50 (51.83) and has an impressive strike rate of 169.94. On the other hand, Hardik Pandya is going through a rough patch, whether it is batting or bowling. In 8 matches Hardik has scored only 151 runs at an average of 21.57. He has taken only 4 wickets in the bowling department at an expensive economy rate of 10.94.

During a show on Star Sports, former India batter Ambati Rayudu said, “Both of them are not competing for the same spot. Hardik Pandya and Ravindra Jadeja are finishers in the Indian team, and Shivam Dube is the kind of batter who comes in at No. 4 or 5. When the spinners are operating and conditions are slow, he can hit boundaries and accelerate to change the game. But between overs 16 and 20, Dube’s strike rate isn’t that high, he fails to hit that many runs. So I feel Hardik and Jadeja have that role in the Indian team.”

Meanwhile, ex-India pacer Irfan Pathan included Pandya in his team on the condition that he bowls regularly.
