Saurav Ganguly expects 30% attendance at grounds in IPL

The 13th edition of the Indian Premier League is due to start on 19th September 2020. The final match will be played on 10th November 2020. After facing a lot of hardships, BCCI is likely to announce the schedule today. It is also understood that broadcasters are expecting the highest rating in IPL this season as the matches will be played in closed doors.

Also, contrary to the media speculations, Chennai Super Kings are likely to play against Mumbai Indians in the season opener of IPL 2020.

Crowds will watch it on television…they (the broadcasters) are actually expecting the highest rating of IPL this season because they believe if (people) don’t turn up in the ground, they will be actually watching on their television sets,” he said.

YOU COULD SEE 30 PERCENT PEOPLE AT THE GROUND: SOURAV GANGULY

While it has been said the IPL 2020 will be played at closed doors, Sourav Ganguly claims that the games could see 30 per cent of spectators at the ground as the league progresses.

You don’t want people to be too close to each other, but very soon you will see there will be 30 per cent people in the ground with social distancing.”

They are properly tested and allowed to enter the ground. But I think that is going to happen over a period of time,” he added referring to the possibility of IPL’s later matches being opened for fans depending on the COVID-19 situation.

For the unversed, all the CSK players, except the 13 members who tested positive for Coronavirus on Friday, have come out with negative results in the last two tests. As a result, they will hit the nets from Friday evening.
