Batting maestro Sachin Tendulkar on Thursday advised the Harmanpreet Kaur-led Indian women’s team to stay positive and “just be in the moment” as they are going to play their maiden T20 World Cup final where India will face the hosts and the defending champion Australia in the final showdown on Sunday. India has reached the final after their semi-final clash against England was washed out in Sydney but they had topped the group in the league stage.

“Just be at that moment and go out and play. Coincidentally, I was there next to the trophy, and our few team members were there from our women’s team. I said it would be nice to see you with this trophy in India,” Sachin Tendulkar said.

The batting legend was speaking at the launch of ‘Dreams of a Billion India and the Olympic Games”, the book was written by Boria Majumdar and Nalin Mehta, in the presence of Olympic gold medallist shooter Abhinav Bindra and multiple grand slam winner Mahesh Bhupathi as well.

He further asked them not to take the pressure and give their best. However, he thinks it is easier said than done but he wants to say them to stay together and don’t need to spend time with the outside world as of now. He also asked them to stay in the company with each other and keep talking positive things only which will help them. Because the legend thinks good things have happened in his team as well and he has been following their performances and they have inspired so many youngsters so far as well.

He further said that athletes from different fields have brought laurels to the country and also hoped Indian women’s team will win their first title as well. While recalling his 2011 World Cup-winning moment which India won at home by beating Sri Lanka in Mumbai, he advised the team to enjoy the final as well.

India has beaten the hosts and the defending champion Australia in the opening ceremony and later beat Bangladesh, New Zealand and Sri Lanka convincingly as well. Moreover, with this final appearance, Harmanpreet Kaur is going to become the first captain be it men’s or women’s to lead her side on her birthday.
