Rohit Has An Art That I Haven’t Seen Kohli Pull Off Regularly: Virender Sehwag

Virender Sehwag reckons that Virat Kohli might be the best batsman in the world, but some of the things that Rohit Sharma can do on a cricket field, even Virat can’t do that.

Rohit played an extraordinary innings of 85 runs yesterday to guide India to an emphatic 8-wicket victory against Bangladesh.

The stand-in Indian skipper hit 6 sixes during his innings, 3 of which came off 3 consecutive balls.

According to Sehwag, Rohit has this ability to suddenly put the foot on the accelerator and deposit the ball into the stands twice or thrice in succession and that’s what makes him a special player.

Likening Rohit to Sachin Tendulkar, Sehwag revealed that when Sachin was a part of the Indian team, he would ask his teammates to do things that he used to do with the bat, but it was not possible for the other batsmen to do what Sachin could do.

Virender Sehwag was in the studio of Cricbuzz as a pundit to analyze the second T20 international between India and Bangladesh.

When the Sultan of Multan was asked about Rohit’s innings, he said, “Hitting 3-4 sixes in a single over or scoring 80-90 runs in 45 balls is an art that I haven’t even seen Kohli pull off as regularly as Rohit.”

“Sachin used to tell others if I can do something on the field, why can’t you? But he never understood that the sort of things God can do, no one else can.” Sehwag added.

This is the third consecutive calendar year in international cricket where Rohit Sharma is topping the list of the six hitters. The Mumbai right-hander topped the list in 2017 with a total of 65 sixes across formats. He then took the tally to 74 last year and in this year so far, he has hit the ball out of the ground 66 times.
