Odean Smith Early Life
Odean Smith is a West Indian cricketer born on 1 November 1996. He was born in St Elizabeth Parish, Jamaica. He is a right handed batsman and right arm fast medium bowler. Odean is a full time bowler. He made his List A debut on 16 January 2015 in the 2014-15 Regional Super 50 tournament. He made his T20 debut for Jamaica Tallawahs in the 2017 Caribbean Premier League on 8 August 2017. Odean Smith made his national debut with the West Indies cricket team in April 2018.
Odean Smith Domestic Career
In May 2018, Smith was selected to play for the Trinidad and Tobago national cricket team for the 2018–19 season in the Professional Cricket League draft. In November 2019, Smith was named in Trinidad and Tobago’s squad for the Regional Super 50 tournament for 2019-20. He was selected by Jamaica in the players’ draft hosted by Cricket West Indies ahead of the 2020–21 domestic season.
In July 2020, Smith was named to the Guyana Amazon Warriors squad for the 2020 Caribbean Premier League.Following the players’ draft for the 2021 Lanka Premier League, Smith was selected to play for the Dambulla Giants. In February 2022, he was purchased by the Punjab Kings in the auction for the 2022 Indian Premier League.
Odean Smith International Career
Smith was selected for the West Indies’ Under-19 Cricket World Cup squad in December 2015. In March 2018, Smith was selected for the West Indies’ Twenty20 International (T20I) series against Pakistan.
On April 2, 2018, he made his T20I debut for the West Indies against Pakistan.
Smith was picked to the West Indies One Day International (ODI) and Twenty20 International (T20I) squads for the series against Pakistan in November 2021. He was selected in the West Indies’ ODI team for the series versus Ireland in December 2021. On January 8, 2022, he made his ODI debut for the West Indies against Ireland.
