Manpreet Kaur is an Indian shot put player born on the 5th of March in the year 1990. She is a professional player from Ambala who received a lot of medals and laurels for the country as well. She is currently number one in the world’s ranking.

She also holds the record for the largest throw of 17.96m in Women’s Shot Put. She also qualified to represent India at the Summer Olympics at Rio held in the year 2016. Manpreet Kaur is also one of the best women sports women in India and holds a lot of records in her name as well.

EARLY LIFE: 

Kaur is from Ambala and belongs to a Punjabi family. She has two other younger siblings. Her father died when she was only thirteen years old and her mother got paralyzed in 2006. She is the eldest sister who had to take care of her siblings as well and it was very difficult for her to overcome such a situation. One of her brothers was a sprinter, while the other one was a discus thrower. Kaur’s sister-in-law was also a shot putter.

PERSONAL LIFE: 

Manpreet Kaur is 29 years old now and she is married to Karamjeet Singh who is a university-level shot putter and who also trains her. She also has a daughter and is happily living her life with her small family. She was born in in the year 1990 in March in a village in Punjab. Therefore, she belongs to a Punjabi family in India.

She was coached by Karamjeet Singh for all of her games. He is also her husband now.

She lost her father at a very early age and her mother was paralyzed as well. It was a very dark and tough time for her being the eldest sibling as well.

But, Manpreet Kaur never left believing and she gradually pursued all her dreams of becoming a sportsperson. She not only made it to her field of interest but also won a number of laurels for the country. She won the Gold medal in the year 2013 and represented India worldwide.

PROFESSIONAL LIFE:

Manpreet Kaur was placed in the 9th position at the IAAF World Youth Championships in the year 2007 at Ostrova. In the year 2010, Manpreet took a hiatus of three years and returned with a bang. She broke the 18-year-old record in women’s shot put.

Manpreet Kaur also won over gold in the first leg of the Asian Grand Prix Athletics Meet wherein she made a National record. She qualified for the IAAF with a throw of 18.86m and this championship took place in London. She also won the gold medal at the 2017 Asian Athletics Championship held in Odisha.
