Lasith Malinga to miss first part of IPL 2020

Srilankan star pacer Lasith Malinga will not play in the first few matches for Mumbai Indians for the upcoming edition of IPL 2020 due to personal reasons.

Initially, the cash-rich league was scheduled for March 2020 but later it has been rescheduled from 19th September to 10th November in UAE as India is one of the worst-hit countries who are affected from the deadly coronavirus.

IPL will be played at three venues- Abu Dhabi, Sharjah and Dubai. Malinga plays the pivotal role in the Mumbai Indians squad with his ability to defend totals in crunch situation by his amazing bowling skills.

Especially the way he defended eight runs in the final of IPL 2019 edition against Chennai Super Kings where he proved his mettle as a bowler and didn’t let Chennai win the title. According to reports from ESPNCricinfo, the pacer’s father has been ill and might require surgery in the coming weeks.

There is no point denying that he is one of the best fast bowlers in the world who have played the game especially in the limited over format as he will be turning 37 years old next month and his last outing for Srilanka came against West Indies in Pallekelle since then he is not involved with Srilankan team lineup.

He was also not included in the conditioning camp organized by Srilankan Cricket Board in the month of June and July.
