IPL 2023: ‘Is DRS timer a joke or what’ – Fans bash umpire After Wriddhiman Saha’s Late Review

IPL 2023: 'Is DRS timer a joke or what' - Fans bash umpire After Wriddhiman Saha's Late Review

Gujarat Titans easily trounced Mumbai Indians in their Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 match on Tuesday in Ahmedabad, but the game was not without controversy. Wriddhiman Saha gloved the ball to Ishan Kishan during the third over of the game off the bowling of Arjun Tendulkar, and the umpire didn’t waste any time raising his finger.

After a protracted conversation with Shubman Gill, Saha signalled for the review since he was still not persuaded. Despite the fact that the DRS timer had ended, the umpire chose to grant the batsman’s request and requested the review.

The bowler won the review, but the umpire’s actions were criticised on Twitter.

In a wholly one-sided IPL encounter on Tuesday, Gujarat Titans put on a clinical display to defeat Mumbai Indians by 55 runs. A challenging aim of 208 was set, and MI were halted at 152 for nine. Since MI didn’t get off to the start they had hoped for, they were battling at 29 for the loss of skipper Rohit Sharma’s wicket in six overs and had utterly failed to make use of the powerplay. In the second over, Rohit attempted to work the ball on the onside but instead got a leading edge, allowing his opposite number, Hardik Pandya, a return catch.

Ishan Kishan’s laborious time in the middle was finally interrupted by Rashid after MI managed to score 13 runs in the seventh over. Ishan took 21 balls total to score 13 runs.

After three balls, Tilak Varma was caught in front of the wicket by Rashid, leaving MI in trouble at 45 for three in the eighth over.

Five-time winners MI could not manage to score and fell short of challenging the reigning champs.
