There are many teams who have set various records during the IPL but have never won any IPL season or won the finals just once. Let’s talk about the teams and players that were backed the most by the management amid the results:
- Royal Challengers Bangalore: RCB has never won any IPL season, they have qualified for the play-offs many times but they never lifted the trophy. RCB has various records under their belt i.e. they have the highest run scored by any team record by their name, they have scored 263 runs in 2013 which was the highest run scored by any franchise to date. Virat Kohli is the only player who has scored more than 6000 runs in IPL, Virat also holds the record of scoring the most runs in one IPL season as he scored a total of 973 runs in 2016 which was the most by any player in one IPL season. Despite these records, RCB never lifted the IPL trophy. RCB is one of the various teams which was backed the most by the management amid the results coming not in their favor.
- Delhi Capitals: Delhi Capitals is the second team who have never lifted the IPL trophy till now, they have qualified for the play-offs but never got a chance to lift the trophy. There are various records held by Delhi Capitals in the IPL. Delhi Capital’s Wicketkeeper/Batsman Rishabh Pant holds the record of scoring the most runs scored by a left-handed Indian batsman. Rishabh has scored a total of 128 runs from 63 balls against Sunrisers Hyderabad in the 2018 edition. Delhi Capitals ex-spinner Amit Mishra holds the record of taking the most wickets by an Indian bowler in IPL history. In his IPL career, he has taken 166 wickets in 154 matches with an average of 23.97 although he has also represented Hyderabad the majority of his wickets come from Delhi. Despite having such great players in their franchise Delhi never got a chance to put their hands on the IPL trophy.
- Punjab Kings: Punjab Kings is the third team who have never lifted the IPL trophy in 14 IPL seasons. Punjab Kings is the only team who have failed to qualify for playoffs more than seven times out of the 14 IPL seasons. PBKS has their highest total of 232 against Royal Challengers Bangalore. For the last 3 IPL seasons KL Rahul has been the best performer for Punjab Kings with the bat. The main problem with Punjab Kings is that they change their captains very frequently.
