Deepika Kumari, Bombayla Devi Laishram, and Atanu Das are among the noteworthy Indian archers who have achieved victory at the Asian Games. These archers have won medals in several Asian Games editions, demonstrating India’s potential in the sport.

India has won a total of 10 medals in the sport of Archery in the history of the Asian Games. India has not been an Archery powerhouse over the years, but the performance of Indian archers has been on the rise since the beginning and has posed a tough challenge for their opponents.

In the 2006 Asian Games, the quadruple of Mangal Singh, Tarundeep Rai, Jayanta Talukdar, and Vishwas won India’s first-ever medal in Archery. It was a bronze in the men’s team recurve event.

In 2010, Indian archers went one step ahead and won one silver medal and two bronze medals. One bronze medal came in the men’s team recurve, and the other came in the women’s team recurve. The silver medal was won in the individual recurve by Tarundeep Rai.

The 2014 Asian Games was a glorious edition for Indian archers. They won a total of four medals. Abhishek Verma won silver in Individual Compound, the men’s team won gold in Team Compound, Trisha Deb won bronze in Individual compound, and the women’s team also won a bronze in Team Compound.

In the Jakarta 2018 Asian Games, the men’s and women’s teams won a silver each in team Compound matches.
