It seems that our national game is reviving now and all the struggles, sacrifices, determination of Men in Blue paid on Thursday as they defeated Germany by 5-4 and clinch bronze medal in Olympics 2020.
The last time India won Olympic medal was in 1980 and that was gold under the leadership of V Bhaskaran and in few matches there were brilliance from two players including the likes of Mohammad Shahid and Zafar Iaqbal.
Everyone contributed in this ongoing Olympics when it comes to Men’s team and it was pretty evident that they are there to win match against Germany. Players like Hardik Singh, Harmanpreet Singh,Pr Sreejesh, Manpreet Singh and others played an instrumental role in raising the standard of Indian hockey in this ongoing Olympics 2020 to a great extent.
Entire India is celebrating victory for Indian Men’s Team as this Bronze might have some different color of Gold and Silver but trust me with the way they have played and have come so far as a team India has brought a new revolution in Hockey again.
Taking about the match Simranjeet Singh (17th, 34th minutes) scored a brace, while Hardik Singh (27th), Harmanpreet Singh (29th) and Rupinder Pal Singh (31st) were the other goal getters for world no.3 India there was a time when India was lacking by 1-4 but from there India quickly scored four more goals to make it 5-4.
It is India’s third hockey bronze medal in the history of the Olympics. The other two came in 1968 Mexico City and the 1972 Munich Games.
India is also one of the most successful team in the history of Olympics as they have won 8 Olympic gold medal where Pre Independence we had player like Major Dhyanchand and in different phases we had class players like Mohammad Shahid, Dhanraj Pillay, Manpreet Singh, Pr Sreejesh and others who have taken Indian Hockey to another level.
