India All ICC Title Lost After 2013 Champions Trophy

ICC

It is not the recent WTC final, but India has lost quite a few ICC knockout matches since 2013. Looks like India was not able to learn from the skills of MS Dhoni. He was certainly the champion of the knockout matches. He made India win all the ICC trophies. Since 2013, India has lost all the ICC knockout matches. This clearly shows that they really need to perform well from now onwards, to follow the standards that were set by MS Dhoni.

8 consecutive losses since 2013

The last ICC title India won was under MS Dhoni, way back in 2013. And after that suddenly India went on to lose 8 out of 8 ICC knockout matches. That can certainly be called a downfall. You can see the list of those 8 knockout matches below. One can only imagine that if India had managed to win even 4 out of those 8 knock out matches, then the story could have been completely different.

  • T20 World Cup final (2014)
  • ODI World Cup Semi-final (2015)
  • T20 World Cup Semi – final (2016)
  • Champions Trophy final (2017)
  • ODI World Cup Semi -final (2019)
  • WTC final (2021)
  • T20 World Cup Semi – final (2022)
  • WTC final (2023)

You can see the list above. 4 finals and 4 semi finals. No doubt, India has missed a number of trophies during these years. This is where coach Rahul Dravid, and captain Rohit Sharma needs to work on. Getting so close and still being so far is the story of the Indian cricket team in the last few years.

The only thing we can hope for is that a new strategy will be made, specially for test cricket. That is because, the legendary top order has not been doing well for quite a while now.
