IND vs NZ 1st ODI : Former Indian Cricketer slams Virat Kohli for his poor dismissal

Virat Kohli

Star Indian batter Virat Kohli got out for a cheap score of 8 runs by Mitchell Santner in the opening ODI match between India and New Zealand on Wednesday in Hyderabad. Kohli entered the series having scored two enormous hundreds against Sri Lanka, but he was unable to duplicate his feats. When Kohli failed to make any touch with his bat, Santner surprised him with a straight delivery that did very little off the pitch and smacked into the off stump.

Although, Shubhman Gill played a magnificent innings of 208 runs, helping out India to post a total of 349/8 and made India win this match. India won the match by 12 runs, defending the total. All the way, the overall performace of Men in Blue was fantastic through out the match, but when it comes to Virat Kohli, the performance did’nt looked to be satisfying, the way he is going through in form.

Kohli ruined the expectations of the team and the fans in this match, while getting out early on a low score and this innings has been criticized by the former Indian cricketer Sunil Gavaskar.

Gavaskar remarked ”it was not a short ball and It simply twisted a little bit and went past the outside edge of a batsman who is in fantastic form”. The way kohli got out did not match to his class & form. He does not deserve such kind of a poor dismissal. Expectations from Kohli have always been high because of the class he carries.
