IND Vs AUS 4th Test Day 2 : Ravichandran Ashwin achieved these career milestones! Find out!

India’s veteran off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin on Friday achieved yet another milestone in his distinguished International career which began a decade ago. The Tamil Nadu born off spinner has now become the only Indian spinner to notch the most number of 5-wicket hauls in India after his figures of 6/91 against Australia in the 4th BGT Test here at Ahmedabad.

Although, the visitors were pretty dominant over the hosts since the 3rd test, Ashwin’s performance on Day 2 has been the only positive for India. With his 5-wickets today, the versatile spinner has overtaken Anil Kumble’s tally of 25 fifers at home.

This was Ashwin’s 26th Fifer in the Indian soil and he also earned himself a few more records other than this. In case you don’t know, the 36-year-old is the fastest bowler in Red ball cricket to pick 350 wickets and it took him 66 Test matches to reach that career milestone which he achieved in 2019 against South Africa.

Ravi Ashwin is now officially the leading wicket taker for India in the Border-Gavaskar trophy history with 113 wickets and has surpassed many Indian cricketing greats. Ashwin’s 113 wickets in BGT also makes him the joint highest wicket taker ever since the origination of the series way back in the 1970’s.

In terms of Fifers at home soil, Ravi Ashwin is second alongside Rangana Herath with 26 and only Mutthaih Muralidharan has more 5-wickets in home soil with 45. Ashwin unlocked another personal milestone with his fifer today. He now has 32 5-wicket hauls which is the 6th highest number of fifer in world cricket.

His illustrious career is blooming even more and the 36-year-old is ageing like fine wine. Not to forget, he was one of the crucial members of the Indian team which won the 2011 ICC Cricket World cup at Wankhede and also the ICC Champions Trophy in 2013 at England.

Meanwhile, Australia in the 2nd day got all out for 480 runs and India have begun chasing the mammoth trail. India have played 10 overs in their 1st innings and are 36/0 with Rohit Sharma and Shubhman Gill scoring 17 and 18 respectively.
