ICC World Cup 2023 : How is Team India shaping up for the tournament?

World’s one of the biggest tournaments in cricket, ICC World Cup 2023 is scheduled to held in Oct-Nov, later this year and India will host the enormous event. As, being the host, the team comes up with more hopes and expectations to win the title. Men in blue will be having more support in both contexts if compared to other teams, as majority of the crowd will be of Indians and the team has to play in home conditions, which will be a great advantage.

Preparations for the World Cup has already been started, early this year. As, the team is experimenting with young players like Shubhman Gill & Ishan Kishan. Both has been in magnificent form, from a few time as runs are coming from Shubhman and Ishan smashed a double century in his last match. Team and management are giving chances to different players to prove their abilities and to make best for the World Cup.

According to the sources, around 20 players have been finalised for the tournament, although the names of these players are still not revealed. Most Probably the top order of Indian team will be amongst these players:-

  1. Shikhar Dhawan
  2. Rohit Sharma
  3. Shubhman Gill
  4. Ishan Kishan

Middle order to consist:-

  1. Virat Kohli
  2. Shreyas Iyer
  3. Surya Kumar Yadav
  4. KL Rahul
  5. Rishabh Pant( if recovers from injury)

And lower order can have:-

  1. Hardik Pandya
  2. Mohammed Shami
  3. Ravindra Jadeja
  4. Deepak Hooda
  5. Arshdeep Singh
  6. Jasprit Bumrah

There are some more names that are in the row of discussion and the management & selectors will think of it. India is going to have many opportunities to nurture them before the World Cup as the men in blue will Odi’s with the teams like Sri lanka, Newzealand and Australia before the World Cup. This will also work as a warm up for the team. Selectors have also said to rotate the players timely & accordingly.

Most probably Rohit Sharma will lead the team in World Cup along with the other senior players of the team like Virat Kohli and KL Rahul. India won its last World Cup in 2011 under the captaincy of MS Dhoni, which was also Co-hosted by India. So, home conditions could become a major factor for India’s victory.
