ICC Cricket World Cup 2023: Pakistan wants a few changes for the tournament in October
The 2023 ICC Cricket World Cup is scheduled to take place in India from October 5 to November 3. This will mark the fourth time the tournament is held in India, but it will be the first time the country hosts it independently. Previously, India co-hosted the World Cup with Pakistan, Sri Lanka, or Bangladesh.
However, the lead-up to the tournament has been marked by controversy, particularly surrounding Pakistan’s participation. Speculation arose about Pakistan’s reluctance to travel to India after India declined to play matches in Pakistan during the upcoming 2023 Asia Cup due to security concerns.

The latest update indicates that Pakistan is requesting venue changes for two matches in the tournament. While the official schedule is not yet available, it has been widely reported that Pakistan will play against India in Ahmedabad.
Additionally, they are scheduled to face Afghanistan in Chennai and Australia in Bengaluru. Cricket Pakistan has reported that the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is planning to request a change in the schedule of two matches.
According to the report, some officials within the PCB believe that India purposely selected venues for the matches where the Pakistan team might face difficulties with pitch conditions, practice facilities, and travel arrangements.
The International Cricket Council (ICC) has not yet released the official schedule for the Cricket World Cup. However, ESPNCricinfo has revealed that India and Pakistan are expected to compete against each other at Ahmedabad’s Narendra Modi Stadium on October 15.
ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 will kick off on October 5 with a match between England and New Zealand, reminiscent of the thrilling 2019 World Cup final. India will commence their campaign against Australia in Chennai on October 8.
