In the ongoing Border-Gavaskar Trophy, currently India is leading the series with 2-0. Whereas, third test match is all set to begin from 1st March and just ahead of the match Former Indian Coach Ravi Shastri has something to say for Star batter Shubhman Gill. According to Ravi Shastri, Shubman Gill should be given another chance during the remaining Border-Gavaskar Tests against Australia.
On the most recent episode of The ICC Review, Shastri discussed Gill with host Sanjana Ganesan, saying that ”he should be reinserted into India’s starting lineup and given another chance to showcase his talents.” Shastri backed Shubhman Gill to play for the remaining tests in the series. Shastri added “He (Gill) is that excellent right now and whether he scores or doesn’t, on form, on merit, he deserves a shot.”
Despite some outstanding recent results against red balls and in limited overs matches, selectors decided to start with KL Rahul at the top of the order over Gill for the first two Test matches against Australia.
Gill scored his first Test century against Bangladesh in December and has made himself a household name among selectors with four white-ball centuries for his nation already this year, including a stunning 208 in an ODI against New Zealand last month. Consistently, the batter has performed for the team by playing outstanding knocks and also performing in under-pressure situations.
Coming back to Border-Gavaskar Trophy, the third test match between India and Australia will take place at Indore.
