Haryana Steelers in run for Place in Top 4 as Their Dominance Continues

Haryana Steelers

Haryana Steelers have registered a hat trick of wins in the current phase of the Pro Kabaddi League. In the starting of the tournament, they may have struggled a bit but so far the Steelers have justified what they are capable of. Following their last season’s performance which the team would not want to remember. They were at the last position in the Zone A. They had a disastrous season as they lost 14 games and managed to win just 6 games. It was a very upsetting performance of the side which they wouldn’t like to look back at.

Coming into this season, the team led by the very experienced Dharmaraj Cheralathan started off with a win in their season’s first match against Puneri Paltan. Haryana Steelers solicited for the wins and started to become the favorites in this season. Having lost 4 out of the 10 matches they have played, Haryana Steelers are now doing some tough business on the mat as they look to dethrone the table toppers.  Well as the stats speak, Haryana based side has won 5 out of the last 6 games they have played and if their dominance continues, their run for the tabletop would be easily achievable in a short span of time.

Steelers are set to play their next game against previous year’s runner ups Gujarat Fortunegiants at the Thyagaraj Sports Complex which will be their last match of the Delhi Leg. The team would be determined to finish off on the winning note. Gujarat Fortunegiants are already struggling with their recent forms as they are unable to win games. If Haryana Steelers are able to defeat the Fortunegiants, they would comfortably climb to the third position in the points table making them one of the favorites for the rest of the tournament.

It isn’t surprising that the presence of the star players such as Naveen, Vikas Khandala, the captain himself Dharmaraj Cheralathan are the stalwarts who have a pretty good strategy whenever they step onto the mat. After a forgettable last season, the team owners decided to grope in the veteran Dharmaraj Cheralathan who has a stronghold in his gameplay and also possesses leadership skills. The team that has no changes but the inclusion of a highly experienced Dharmaraj Cheralathan of two decades old has added to the strength of the squad. Nothing new has been done except the team required synchronization. Talking about the last few matches in which the team has won, the skipper was quick to say that it was the rearrangement and change in the approach and how to deal with the opposition. In the game against the Bengal Warriors, which they went on to win with close margin, the star of the show was, unsurprising, the mercurial Vikas Khandola, who finished the night with 11 raid points, while giving away just a solitary tackle point in his 22 raid attempts.

The captain was very impressed with his side’s performances and also talking about the team’s strategy he told SportzCraazy, In the first half, we committed a mistake in the defense side and so we changed positions and came up with an immediate strategy. The change in defense got us success as things automatically started falling in the right place for us.  We had a strong comeback in the match and also went on to win the match.”

The tournament is already in an exciting phase as the competition keeps the viewers intrigued on their TV screens. As of now as the competition gets tougher in the advancing level of the league, it will be interesting to see how Dharmaraj Cheralathan led side fairs and manages to stay among the top of the table. Haryana coach Rakesh would be elated with his team’s performance as his boys are leaving no stones unturned to turn the tables in their favors in every match.
