Granit Xhaka also is known as Xhakaboom is a Swiss professional Footballer who plays as the Caption and midfielder for the Swiss national team and Premier League club Arsenal.

EARLY LIFE

Granit was born on 27^th September 1992 in Basel, Switzerland to mother Elmaze Xhaka and father Ragip Xhaka.

Granit was the second child of his parents who were originally from Serbia. They migrated to Switzerland in the hope of a better future and lifestyle.

PERSONAL LIFE

Granit married his long-time girlfriend Lekaj in 2017. Lekaj also belongs from a Kosovo Albanian family and had worked for the Bundesliga team where he caught the eye of the Granit.

CLUB CAREER

Granit begins his career as a youth player in the club Basel. Playing of Basel it has proved himself as the best player in the team and gradually made his debut from U-17 to the senior side of the team.

In 2010-11 UEFA Champions League he made his team debut in the third qualifier round against Debrecen in 2-0 victory. At the end of the season, he assisted his team to win the Super League Championship title for Basel.

On 18^th May 2012 Granit signed a five-year deal with club Borussia Monchengladbach. He made his debut in DFB-Pokal first-round match against Alemannia Aachen.

After three days he debuts in European competition against the Dynamo Kyiv in 2012-13 UEFA Champions League. For Bundesliga, he made his debut on 25 August against Hoffenheim.

On 30^th September he made his appearance in the Champions League against Manchester City.

Playing for four years Granit moved to Arsenal on 25^th May 2016 for a fee of 35 million euros and made his debut in a 2-1 win against the MLS All-stars. He netted his first goal for the club on 17^th September 2016 in a 4-1 League victory against Hull City.

Playing for the team he assisted his team to conquer the 2016-17 FA Cup and 2017 FA Community Shield. After a year on 27^th September 2019 Granit was named as the Caption of the team by the Gunners manager Unai Emery.

INTERNATIONAL CAREER

Granit debut for Swiss youth squad from U-17 level. He participated in the Under-17 World Cup in 2009 Nigeria. He played his first game for the national team as a part of the Under-19 Football team against Austria.

As an Under 21 player he assisted the national team in the 2011 UEFA European Under-21 Championship but the team ended as a runner-up.

CONTROVERSY

On 27^th October 2019 Arsenal while playing against Crystal Palace F.C, Granit made several sarcastic gestures and abused the crowd while removing his jersey and Caption band. The gesture came out as a response when Arsenal fans started cheering his name to be replaced supported by boos.
