There is no doubt that the craze for the IPL is almost as much as the world cup. The final of IPL 2023 was certainly worth watching. Many will say that this was the greatest final of all time. This match went on till the last ball, and it was heroically finished by Ravindra Jadeja. However, Shivam Dube might remain an unsung hero.

Shubman Gill was the man to look after. There was no doubt that he was the best batsman of the final. In his last three innings, he had scored 3 centuries. That clearly made it important for CSK to get him out early. And MS Dhoni did that job with his lightning-fast stumping.

After Shubman Gill, fans lost hope of anybody from GT getting close to a century. But Sai Sudarsan kept the hope and went on to score 96 runs on only 47 balls to make his team get a total of 214.

The total of 214 became the highest total for the IPL final ever. There was not doubt that GT had won half of the game. But the match was not over yet.

Rain plays a trick

When everything was going in favor of GT, then Mother Nature made some plans for CSK. The match got delayed due to rain, and the number of overs was reduced to 15, and the target was dropped down to 171.

CSK had plans to fight back. They got a solid start with the opening partnership of 74 runs. Convoy scored 47 of only 25 balls.

Dube provides support.

Once the openers were gone, then GT was in the game again. However, Shivam Dube went on to provide solid support to Rahane and the batsmen who came after him. He even got two sixes to help the team maintain their run rate.

The quick dismissal of Dhoni

After Rahane and Rayudu got out, then Dhoni came on the crease. All eyes were on Dhoni, but it was not his day. He got out on the first ball.

Last over drama

In the last over, Jadeja and Dube were on the crease to make the impossible possible. When 4 balls were remaining, 12 runs were needed. Jadeja was on strike, but he was only able to take a single. Then Dube, on the next ball, slogged on the log-off, but he got only one run. 2 balls and 10 runs were required. GT supporters already had a smile on their faces. But Jadeja got a six and a four on those two balls and made the miraculous finish.

This was certainly one of the greatest IPL finals. CSK went on to win their 5th IPL title to level with the Mumbai Indians.
