Dhoni Availability for Windies TourDhoni Availability for Windies Tour: After speculations about MS Dhoni’s retirement became rife, Dhoni has come out with his decision, for the time being, on the West Indies tour. He has informed about his unavailability for this tour, and would want to spend his time for the next two months with his regiment. This news is confirmed by top BCCI officials.

Dhoni has made himself unavailable for the tour of West Indies as he will be spending two months with his paramilitary regiment,” the official informed PTI.

The senior official also added, “We would like to say three things. He is not retiring from cricket right now. He is taking a two month sabbatical to serve his paramilitary regiment which he had committed much earlier. We have now intimated his decision to skipper Virat Kohli and chairman of selectors MSK Prasad.”

From last one week, there was a huge buzz on Dhoni’s future with Team India. While MS Dhoni seems to have not made up his mind to bid adieu to the game just yet, it seems the selectors want to use him more as a mentor, grooming young guns like Rishabh Pant. Dhoni was expected to be dropped for the Windies tour, especially after a hectic crcicket season comprising of IPL and 2019 World Cup, but Dhoni himself has updated BCCI about his unavailability.

Rishabh Pant is now expected to be the first wicketkeeper on Windies tour. He is soon becoming India’s preferred choice to play all three formats.

After Dhoni’s statement, it’s pretty clear that one would have to wait for another couple of months to have any more insights on Dhoni’s retirement saga.

Earlier, Virat Kohli made himself available for selection for the West Indies tour.
