CSK batsmen think of Chennai Super Kings as a government job- Virender Sehwag takes a dig at CSK players

Virender Sehwag took a dig at CSK players after the team’s recent defeat against Kolkata Knight Riders. The former Indian batsman stated that even if the players don’t perform in the matches they know they will get their salaries from the franchise owners.

It should have been chased down. But the dot balls played by Kedar Jadhav and Ravindra Jadeja didn’t help. And, in my view, some of the Chennai Super Kings batsmen think of CSK as a government job, whether you perform or not, they know they’ll get their salary anyway,” Sehwag told Cricbuzz.

His statement came after CSK’s 10-run defeat at the hands of Kolkata Knight Riders. In pursuit of a 167-run total, Dhoni and Co. were in full control until 12 overs. They were cruising at 99 for 1 after 12 overs. However, the fall of Rayudu’s wicket slowed the team’s run-rate and wickets fell on a regular interval.

Kedar Jadhav faced a lot of wrath for his 12-ball 7 as the team managed to score 157 runs in the end. Virender Sehwag even called Jadhav as the real ‘Man of the Match’ in a sarcastic manner. At the post-match presentation, coach Stephen Fleming was asked the reason on sending Jadhav ahead, to which he reasoned that the latter’s ability to play spin better made them do so.

At the time, we thought that Kedar could play the spinner well and dominate, while Jadeja was there to come and finish. But in the end, there was too much work to do and we fell short,” Fleming said at the press-match conference.

“We’ve got so much batting resources. Kedar is a late middle to late batter for India. We could have gone a whole lot of different ways. Today Kedar had some balls but that didn’t work out. You always put players in different areas and that’s just when you have so much batting talent to choose from. It’s one of the things we look at, but it’s all in hindsight.”
