India will look to write history and break the unlucky jinx of not winning a Test series in South African soil since their first tour in 1992. Under different Captaincies India have played 8 Test series and have managed to draw only one and lost 7.

It is definitely a challenge that Rohit Sharma will look to overcome with a squad which is under transition. It is a task that even MS Dhoni and Virat Kohli could not carry out. Meanwhile, India’s tour of South Africa will begin with a 3 match T20 series on Dec 10, 12 and 14 at Durban, Gqeberha & Johannesburg.

A 3 match ODI series is right after on 17, 19 and 21 December. India’s tour of South Africa last took place in 2021/22. Back then India suffered a 3-0 loss in ODIs and lost the Test series by 2-1. Can India script history in this edition of the Freedom Trophy? Time will tell.
