There has been different speculations from different media houses in last few days about Messi joining the English club Manchester City. Recently a statement came from Ramon Planes, who is serving as the technical secretary of Spanish club Barcelona where he said that they are trying their best to ensure that Messi stays with them.
“We have enormous respect for Leo Messi. Barca and Leo are like marriage, where both have given so much to each other, have brought so much joy to the fans. I think the future is positive.” the clubs official website quoted planes as saying.
“I am optimist we need experience player like Leo Messi, as well as players for the team’s future. We are putting every effort to ensure that the relationship between Barca and Messi will continue. We are working internally to convince Messi” He added.
His statement came in response to the reports speculating that after losing the Spanish cup final against arch-rivals Real Madrid, he expressed his desire to leave the club.
As per the media reports, Messi sent the fax to the club asking them to release him on a free transfer this summer.
Messi who is playing for the Spanish giants from last 20 years now have won several accolades including six times ballon d’OR . He has been instrumental for the club in several victories and will certainly go down in history as one of the greatest player who played for them.
Messi didn’t made his decision to leave Barcelona due to Quique Seiten, who was sacked immediately after the dismal performance by the ace club against arch-rivals Real Madrid in 2019-20 season.
