Ace Spanish club Barcelona has named its ‘B’ side coach Sergi  Barjuan as Interim manager after the departure of Ronald Koeman, the La Liga club released a statement on Thursday. Koeman as coach of Barca has struggled to inject winning mentality in his side and with the recent loss of 1-0 to Rayo Vallecano on Wednesday, its fourth defeat in six games in all competitions.

Lionel Messi unlikely to renew his contract with Barcelona after 2021

“(Barjuan) shall be taking provisional charge of the technical management of the senior squad. His interim position as a first-team head coach shall end as soon as the club has hired a full-time head coach to replace the dismissed Ronald Koeman,” the club said in a statement

Former Spanish midfielder Xavi who has been one of the top players of Barcelona in the past is in the race to become the next coach of Barca. However, when the reporter asked this question to Xavi to which he replied I am currently working with Al Sadd and don’t know about Barca coaching role at the moment.

Taking about the current edition of the Champions League, Barcelona currently stands at ninth position in the points table with 15 points from 10 games and they will be next locking horns against Dynamo Kiev on November 2nd, 2021 and the defeat in this encounter would stop their chances of reaching in the Knock out stages of Champions League.

Talking about Xavi, He belongs to the golden era of Barcelona when they were a far superior side and they had someone like Messi and Suarez who did wonders for the club. Barcelona officials might not accept this but not retaining someone like Messi who is the highest goal scorer is the biggest mistake and he should have been retained especially after the laurels he brought for the franchise.

Real Madrid and Barcelona are arch-rivals but considering the current form of Barca they can’t give tough time to Madrid.
