Aryna Sabalenka

The second-seeded Belarusian tennis player, Aryna Sabalenka, is just two wins away from her second major title this year. Earlier in 2023, Sabalenka won the Australian Open in Melbourne, beating Elena Rybakina in the final. Sabalenka beat Rybakina in that match after losing the first set.

Well, now in the Roland Garros French Open 2023, Aryna Sabalenka faces the unseeded Karolina Muchova in the semi-finals and is very close to achieving her dream. Muchova has also played sensational tennis on the clay courts this summer and won’t be an easy pass for Sabalenka.

Aryna Sabalenka faced Marta Kosyuk from Ukraine in the first round and beat her in straight sets. The second and third rounds were also pretty easy for the Belarusian, as she did not drop a set and looked flawless. In the fourth round, she beat Sloane Stephens again in straight sets, setting up her quarterfinal clash with the comeback girl this season, Elina Svitolina, whom she beat in consecutive sets.

Karolina Muchova, who was not predicted to be in the semis when the tournament started, has played a really good brand of tennis. Muchova’s first-round match was nothing short of a dream for her, as she beat the eighth-seeded Maria Sakkari and started a series of upsets in this French Open. Her second, third, and fourth-round matches were easy, and she seemed unbeatable. In the quarterfinals, she beat Pavlyukenchova in straight sets, setting up her clash with Sabalenka in the semis.

Sabalenka has not even dropped a set this season, and she is going to be a big hurdle for Muchova if she wants to move her journey ahead in the French Open in 2023. Muchova, on the other hand, has nothing to lose and can prove to be a party spoiler for Sabalenka.
