EARLY LIFE

Anup began playing badminton at a tender age. As an aspiring badminton player, he worked a lot on his skills.

Unfortunately, his initial stage was not that fruitful as he was not able to earn a Junior National Badminton title. Though his failure at the Junior National level gave him a positive motivation to grab a Senior National title instead.

The young badminton player went on to emerge as a winner at the National Badminton Championship.

Anup Sridhar was born on 11th April 1983 in Bangalore, Karnataka, India. He was born to D. R. Sridhara, who was a general manager & also the Chief Vigilance Officer in the Vijaya Bank.

Anup completed his schooling from St. Joseph’s Boy’s High school. Further, he achieved a degree in B.com from the Sai Bhagawan Mahaveer Jain College in Bangalore.

To shape his career, Sridhar attained advanced badminton coaching from the TATA Padukon Badminton Academy in Bangalore.

Anup learned the master skills of badminton under the guidance of Vimal Kumar, Tom John, and Prakash Padukone.

PROFESSIONAL LIFE

After earning the National Badminton Championship title in 2004, Anup also earned the championship title in 2005 and 2006 which made him winning NCB title 3 times in a row. Apart from this, he also won numerous domestic badminton tournaments.

Anup Sridhar made his debut in the International Badminton in 2002 where he was successfully qualified for the India Asia Satellite Tournament.

The Indian Badminton player went on to compete at some significant international events including Luster International Malaysia Satellite Tournament in 2002, Canterbury International Tournament in 2004, Norwegian International Tournament in 2003 & Proton Eon Malaysia Open Tournament in 2003.

Anup won his very first victory in 2004 at the Cheers Asian Satellite Tournament where he got qualified for the Western Australian International Tournament in Singapore.

Anup Sridhar achieved his first big success at the 30th Hungarian International Badminton Tournament 2005 where he was a winner.

In 2006, Sridhar was also a part of the Indian Badminton Team who clinched a bronze medal at the Commonwealth Games held in Melbourne.

He also reached the semi-final of the Yonex German Open Tournament in 2006 and also the Yonex Sunris Asian Continental Championship in 2007.

The badminton player has represented India at the Beijing Olympics in 2008 where he outreached at the 2nd round in the Men’s singles.
