Anish Bhanwala Continues To Shoot Gold At National Championship

After the South Asian game, Anish Banwala was in the limelight once again as he won 4 gold medals in the National Shooting Competition held from 17 to 4 January in Bhopal. Anish expressed his intentions by winning 4 Gold Medals in 25 Meter Rapid Fire Junior, Senior Individual, National Championship Event and Team Event.

Around 250 shooters from all the states participated in the ongoing National Shooting Competition in Bhopal. Anish scored 582 out of 600 in the qualification match and 28.8 in the senior category final. In the junior category, he scored his own national record of 33.

Anish had recently won two golds in individual and team events at the 13th South Asian Shooting Competition held in Kathmandu, Nepal from 1 to 10 December. The competition was contested by 18 shooters from 7 countries in Asia, in which Anish defeated Basir Khan Mustafa of Pakistan to stand at the top of the podium.

Anish’s father Jagpal told that his son started swimming in 2012. After that he tried his hand at the modern pentathlon which included five sports namely shooting, running, fencing, horse riding and swimming. In the Asian Championships held in Beijing, Anish performed brilliantly in laser gun that is when his coach Satyavir advised him to go into shooting. This is hoe Anish took up shooting as a full time sport.

Discussing his first impression of Karni singh shooting Range Anish recalls that he went there about three and a half years ago and when he picked up a gun a senior shooter said, “You are still a child.” Anish was accompanied by his relatives at the shooting range and he had already decided that he wanted to make name in shooting. On the first day, the young Anish made his intentions very clear by shooting the target precisely. His skill was also appreciated by the shooters present there. After this, Anish did not look back.
