Chennai Super Kings batter Ambati Rayudu, has responded angrily to some claims that he responded in one of his tweets to what the legendary Sunil Gavaskar said during the commentary for the IPL 2023 match between CSK and Rajasthan Royals. ‘You must play field. You cannot simply walk up to the plate and begin hitting the ball. No, you can’t. That was demonstrated by Prithvi Shaw. He recently tried to come out to bat but was unsuccessful. No fielding means no points. Rayudu was declared out after the second ball’ said Gavaskar.
The game was lost by CSK against RR. Following the conclusion of the match, Rayudu tweeted: “Ups and downs are a constant part of life and sport. Results are not always a gauge of our effort, therefore we need to be optimistic and keep working hard for things to change. Thus, maintain a positive attitude and relish the journey.
In life and sport ups and downs are a constant part. We need to be positive and keeping working hard and things will turn around.. results are not always a measure of our effort. So always keeping smiling and enjoy the process.. pic.twitter.com/1AYAALkGBM

According to certain media reports, this tweet was a retort to what Gavaskar stated.
Rayudu has made it clear that there is no connection, nevertheless. ‘What rubbish, my tweet had nothing to do with the great Mr. Gavaskar’s remarks, which had to do with my fielding. His opinions are widely appreciated’ Ambati Rayudu tweeted.
What nonsense… my tweet has nothing to do with the great mr Gavaskars comments.. his opinions are well respected and in regards to my fielding . A player doesn’t decide if he wants to field or not.
