In the next month, he made his First-Class debut for Meghalaya playing his debut match in the Ranji Trophy 2018-19 season.
In the 2019 season of the Syed Mushtaq Ali trophy, Abhay smashed 14 balls 50, the fastest T20 half-century in the history of Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy. He surpassed the previous record of Robin Uthappa for the fastest 50 in India’s domestic T20 tournament. He also equaled Kl Rahul‘s record of the fastest fifty in T20 cricket in India.
