Megan Schutt is an Australian cricketer who plays for the Australian national women cricket team. In domestic cricket, she plays for the South Australian scorpions. She is a right-arm medium-fast bowler who made her debut against New Zealand.

She is widely regarded as one of the best fast bowlers in women’s cricket. She is not just a bowler, she is quite effective with her bat as well. She gives a balance to the team she plays for as she contributes with both bat and ball.

Early Life & Journey

Schutt was born on 15 January 1993 in Adelaide, Australia. Her cricketing journey began while she was in school and she decided to play at the school level. At the tender age of 16 years, she was handed her domestic debut. She made her domestic debut for south Australian scorpions in 2009.

3 years of hard work and dedication resulted in her being extremely successful at the domestic level. Her performance in the women’s National Cricket League impressed selectors and she was called up to represent the Australian national team to play against New Zealand.

In 2012 Megan made her debut in the Rose Bowl series against New Zealand. She was a bit expensive in her first match and was wicketless in the match. In the second match, she bounced back and performed well. She picked up 2 wickets and was economical on the day.

She was selected in the 2013 Women’s World Cup squad, she played 7 matches for the Australian team in that World Cup. She performed extremely well as she picked up 15 wickets in 7 matches and helped Australia in lifting the world cup. She ended the tournament as the highest wicket-taker.

She was a part of the Australian setup that was on its way for the 2015 Ashes series which was held in England and she played a key role in Australia winning the Ashes in England after 14 long years. Her best moment in T20 cricket came in 2018 in a tri-series where she took a hat-trick against India. She became the first Australian female cricketer to take a hat-trick in a T20 International match.

She was the part of the Australian team that won the 2018 World T20 and in that very year, she was named as the captain of her domestic team South Australian Scorpions. She plays for the Adelaide strikers in women’s Big Bash League.

Her one-day international debut for the Australian women’s cricket team came on 17 December 2012 against New Zealand women at Sydney.
