The final of the Pro Kabaddi League Season 9 is just hours away from its beginning. This season has been about the young players who have stepped up to the occasion in the absence or failure of experienced players. Raiders like Bharat and Narender Khandola have performed very well whereas defenders like Ankush Rathee and Saurabh Nandal have also showcased their skills on the big stage for the first time.
The final is all set to be played today between Jaipur Pink Panthers and Puneri Paltan in Mumbai. Here, we are going to talk about three reasons why Jaipur can win the Pro Kabaddi League.
1. The first and foremost reason I must say is Arjun Deshwal. Arjun has been in some exceptional form this season carrying Jaipur’s raiding department single-handedly. He has performed in almost every match for Jaipur and received timely and good contributions from other raiders.
Jaipur’s raiding department is as lethal as ever and Arjun Deshwal is in the form of his life. He has scored 290 raid points till now and is just a Super 10 away from the 300-figure mark. I am sure Arjun would have only one motive today when he goes out on the Kabaddi mat – to make his team win by scoring a Super-10 which will help him reach the 300-figure mark and can prove to be a cherry on the cake. If Puneri Paltan needs to win this trophy, Arjun Deshwal is a big threat to them who can change the match in just one super raid.
2. The second reason which can make Jaipur the winners of the Pro Kabaddi League for the second time is their defense. Their defense department has been in great form this season and the main thing is they haven’t leaked any extra points this time around.
The defense department has complemented the raiders well in maintaining the lead against various opponents. Their defense consists of Ankush (the young sensation who is on the top of the best defender charts), Sunil Kumar (a very experienced Right Cover defender), and Sahul Kumar (a defender at Right Corner who has just picked form at the right time).
Ankush, at the Left Corner, can be a problem for many raiders of the opponent team as he has been exceptional in his first-ever PKL season and showed everyone what he is capable of.
3. The third and most important reason is the experience of the starting 7 and Jaipur’s experience of playing the finals two more times before this one can come to the fore. Jaipur Pink Panthers won’t be under much pressure as they will be playing the finals of the Pro Kabaddi League for the third time whereas Puneri Paltan can succumb to the pressure as it will be their first final in the Pro Kabaddi League history.
Jaipur has a team filled with big-match players and players who can handle pressure well. Their captain Sunil Kumar has played more than 100 PKL matches, Rahul Chaudhari has played more than 150 PKL matches, and Arjun Deshwal has been in the setup for around 3 years now.
If Jaipur can use its resources well, Arjun Deshwal performs, and if the defense doesn’t leak any extra points, I don’t think Puneri Paltan would be able to stop this lethal Jaipur team from winning their second Pro Kabaddi League trophy.
