WTC Final 2023 : Dinesh Karthik provides his take on India's playing XI for the one-off Test against Australia!

India’s Veteran Wicket-keeper Batsman and the 2007 ICC T20 World cup winner Dinesh Karthik has provided his opinion on how team India will line-up against Australia for the ICC World Test championship final scheduled to take place at Oval from 7th June onwards.

This is for the 2nd time in a row that India have reached the WTC one-off final test and after suffering a tough loss in 2021 against New Zealand, Rohit Sharma’s side will be aiming get their hands on the trophy in their second attempt. But there is still plenty of time for preparation but let’s take a look at what Dinesh Karthik has in mind.

The 37-year-old said that India’s captain as well as Rohit Sharma will not back off from taking some tough decisions and might leave out either Ravindra Jadeja or Ravichandran Ashwin from the starting XI. For a fact both of the players are #1 and #2 All-rounders in Test cricket around the world but Karthik is of the view that there will be room for only one of them.

At the same time he also spoke about Axar Patel’s chances of playing the WTC final at Oval and remained blunt about his chances and said that he is unlikely to feature. “To be brutally honest if everybody is fit, especially if Ashwin and Jadeja are fit, you will have to say that Axar will miss out. I think Shardul will take his place.”

Karthik feels that it will be a mistake to play both Jadeja and Aswhin as India did in the last edition’s final and also thinks that the former will be backed because of his batting skills. Although both Jadeja and Ashwin performed really well in the recently concluded Border-Gavaskar trophy where India won by 2-1.

Ashwin accounted for 25 wickets while Jadeja scalped 22 wickets and both of them were awarded with the joint man of the series award. But who will make it to the Playing XI of the WTC final?
